RARE! Beautiful antique leather French couture sewing box, 1750-1790, a real museum piece. The shape resembles a round handbag with 2 handles but this casket shape was a preferred style of French court ladies for their sewing boxes.
Inside is a silk green moiré, the accessories have disappeared over time, and loops, where the sewing equipment was stored, are still there. The outside is nicely decorated in relief, the key is missing however you can still lock and unlock the latch.
It is a magical piece for the collector of historical fashion, French fashion, royal court history buffs and beyond.
