Antique Asyk & Bodhi Pendant

This Asyk style pendant features chains and bodhi form pendants as well as bezel set glass gems, all suspended from hand crafted metal tubing and East Pakistan/Bangladesh paisa coins on cording. Made in the 1930s. 

These pendants were typically given to a bride on her wedding day. 

Length of approx: 14” Made with a copper and metal alloy blend. 

Afghan/Turkmen jewelry is a challenge to date since pieces were passed down and updated along the way. The core of a pendant remained the same but people added or removed decoration, changed stones and often updated coins as they would be used along the way. They were living pieces that passed through generations.
