Antique Turkmen Crescent Necklace

This Turkmen/Afghan necklace is a copper and silver alloy mix. From the 1930s roughly. In lunar shape, Indian coins, chains, and beads, dangle along with a hand made chain.

Afghan/Turkmen jewelry is a challenge to date since pieces were passed down and updated along the way. The core of a pendant remained the same but people added or removed decoration, changed stones and often updated coins as they would be used along the way. They were living pieces that passed through generations.
